The Throne Room

Do you ever feel scared, uncertain, forgotten, lost? Regardless of present circumstances, these are feelings that come up in our “normal” lives far too often.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

When reading this I was reminded of a vision someone shared with me once…

Picture yourself as a small child, about 3 years in age, and imagine yourself scared about something unsure of what to do. Where would a child of that age run to for help? Their parents.

1 John 3:1 The Father has loved us so much that we are called children of God. And we really are His children.

God is so loving and kind. He didn’t give us imperfect parents and say “Well good luck.” They are an example of the relationship that we are created for.

Back to that vision….. We run to our heavenly Father, who is in His throne room, for help.

As much as tv put a beautiful spin on royalty, that definitely wasn’t the reality. No child would have been allowed to run into a throne room. Not even their wives were allowed to enter without being summoned (The story of Esther for example). But God is different.

I imagine a specific scene to really grasp the concept of being a child. God is conversing with an angle about something important. Do we as a 3 year old pause and think: “Maybe I shouldn’t interrupt...I bet that’s important and that would be really rude and awful of me…” ABSOLUTELY NOT. Children have a sense of importance for themselves. They think: “I need to be heard and I’m going to be, because I matter.”

Mark 10:15 Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter at all.

That last part really struck me just typing it up. Do you believe that you matter? You definitely matter to God!

You run up to God completely interrupting the conversation, going on and on about how you are feeling and why you are scared. You have God’s undivided attention. He is listening intently. He scoops you up into His arms and holds you. You’re SAFE. You’re COMFORTED.

God turns to the angle and gives him the command to lead an attack on the enemy that is attacking you. You’re FOUGHT FOR. You’re DEFENDED.

I encourage you to receive the truth that you do matter. I encourage you to run to God daily in prayer, receiving all that the Holy Spirit has for you and the protection of God’s angel armies.
