Take a Moment...for Everyone

The business of things has definitely seemed to pick back up, if it ever even stopped or slowed down. I find myself consumed by distractions of daily tasks and everything that is going on around me. As well as focusing on the past and what I would like to have gone differently or worrying about the future and trying to plan ahead.

The one things God has called me to do it to take moments for Him. To just pause at different times throughout the day and focus on Him. To remember what He has done for me, to remember that He is with me now, to receive the Holy Spirit.

Someone mentioned to me recently that they were having a rough day. Not really for any particular reason, just a mood really that had been hanging over them since they woke up. They felt negative, depressed, overwhelmed, and just alone. So they took a moment and stopped. They listened to worship music and really focused on it and worshiped God. The "gloomy cloud" hanging over them was gone and it didn't return the whole day.

It's so easy to focus on our problems and the negative things in life, even the positive things over God. When we take a moment, though, and remember that God is over all of it. When we remember His love and how much He has done for us, our perspective not only changes, but we receive the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit start to become more present in us.

The beauty of all of this is not only does it greatly benefit us and our lives. It changes us and leads others to God's kingdom. Either simply by how we respond to things and others differently than the world and our change provokes questioning from others. Or by being guided by the Holy Spirit to pour into and guide others to Christ directly.

I pray that wherever we are in how much we focus on God throughout the day, that we all see growth in this area in our lives and thus growth of the Spirit moving in our lives.
