Made Pure and Filled with the Holy Spirit
Acts 10:15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.
I heard this as my husband sat in our hallway at our little girls door reading the bible out loud as she fell asleep. SO many things come to mind with this verse as well as this scene.
During our time at home with our families, roommates, etc., we will be challenged and tempted in many ways. We are likely to be tempted to get impatient, lose our temper, shut down, be full of fear, and a lot more. When we give in to these things and slip up, we have to remember these words: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” We have been made clean by God. We are not made impure by our slip-ups. He died for them before we were even in our mother’s wombs. When you slip-up don’t let Satan get a foothold with his whispers of “You’re not good enough” “You’re an awful ____ (parent, friend, spouse, person, etc.)”, but proclaim back “DO NOT call God’s child who He has made clean impure!”
Galatians 5
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
We were we made clean when we accepted Jesus as our Lord, but that's not all. We were also given the Holy Spirit to live inside of us. The Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead. The Spirit that gives us the power and ability to do the things listed above!
While we may be limited in our ability to go places, we are by no means limited in our ability to be His Hands. We are given an amazing opportunity to really show those that we live with the Spirit of God. To be an example of the fruit of the Spirit. To read God’s word over them. To show them faith regardless of circumstances. We have the ability to even go beyond those who live with us, with the technology we have. To have a presence on-line that is fruit of the Spirit based, not allowing Satan to thrive there through us. To be a light to others by calling them and speaking God’s word to them with fruit of the spirit based conversations.
We are definitely being called by God to rise up and shed His light on all we can. To give hope and encouragement during this time. To take the extra time that we have and use it to fill ourselves up with His word and His presence. To strengthen our relationship with Him, so we can turn right around and pour it out on others during this time. Growing us to where we will be an amazing light to our community even after this has all passed. I am very excited to see us, the Church, grow through all of this.
