Receiving/Opening the Door
During this time of uncertainty there is only one thing that can truly bring me peace. That can give me patience and peace. That one thing is God, the Holy Spirit.
How though? How do I receive the fruit of the spirit? I believe. I've been baptized. I pray. I read the Bible. I check off and have checked off all of the things on the "list" and I don't have it!
Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
I'm standing at the other side of the door. Ready to let God in. I go to open it and it's stuck. I pull harder and harder! "God please take this fear away! Please take away my anxiety and stress, my anger. Why aren't you coming in!? I'm inviting you in! Please!"
It's so easy to come to God in a panic. When I do I'm still having the fear, anxiety, anger, etc. be my main focus. Yes, I'm calling out to God, but what am I really looking at? My problem or His holiness and might? I'm pulling on a door that needs to be pushed.
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.
Matthew 17:20 "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed you could say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."
Taking just a second, a breath, to clear my mind and call on God with a sense of strength knowing He's there to answer, changes so much. The door opens with the slightest touch of my finger. God swoops in, for He was there waiting all along. His perfect love casts out all of my fear, anxiety, etc. His peace washes over me.
He may not take away or change the circumstances that we are in, but He will undoubtedly give us peace and love as well as change our perspective on the situation and help us through it. He will come along side us giving us a strength and peace beyond understanding. He will be your Savior.
God You are Holy! You are strong. You are faithful, loving, kind, just, GOOD. I pray that I focus on who you are. That I focus on how holy, how unfathomably amazing you are. What do I have to fear when you are on my side? Circumstances are nothing in comparison to you! I pray that you banish fear, anxiety, stress, anger from me and that I receive you Holy Spirit. That I receive and bear your fruit. That I shine your light on the world at this time. Thank you God for never changing and for loving me so much that you sent your son to die for me. I pray all of this in your name Jesus, Amen
