My husband has been traveling a lot for work. With 2 children under 4, it has definitely been stressful, exhausting, and overwhelming. The most prominent feeling though, is a feeling that creeps in at night when the kids are asleep, the feeling of loneliness.
Being alone, without adult contact. Having to bear the weight of many responsibilities alone. Alone with my exhaustion and the thoughts that come with it.
The other night I was sitting there really feeling alone, when God “whispered” something to me.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
God will never “go out of town.” He is always there for you, by your side. He will bear the weight of your burdens. He will ease your thoughts and troubles.
Will He change the circumstances surrounding you?
John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world
He’ll do better than that.
When we were the ones that caused the separation, that chose the tree of knowledge out of a desire to become gods ourselves, who made it so God could really be by our side again? Jesus. God came and died to be able to be by our sides. To live in us.
John 14:15-17 If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever-the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him. For he lives with you and will be in you.
26-27 The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
2 Timothy 1:7 God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid. He gave us a spirit of power and love and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness , and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
God doesn’t promise to change our circumstances and make life easy in the way we imagine.
What He does promise and what He gave us is Himself. He gives us the strength to make it through our circumstances. To lead others to Him despite our circumstances. He protects our spirits with His.
Whatever your circumstances may be, look to Jesus. Receive the Spirit. Allow Him to equip and protect your spirit.

My mind started to wonder, what kind of an impact did that good act have? How much was done by obeying God? How amazing would it be if one day, in heaven, we got to see just how huge of an effect those things had. The domino effect it had. How many people it truly reached and how much it really changed things. How much God’s kingdom was affected by it. Then I had another thought… I really don’t want to see the effect my sin had on things. I don’t want to see how much I ruined something or hurt someone. How much I messed things up by not obeying God. God immediately interjected. Or do you want to see? See how much I am really working. See how great of a God I really am. See how despite you falling short, sinning, My plan was not ruined. See how I still saved that person and brought them to me. See how someone else was blessed in getting to be the person to do that. John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. B...
The business of things has definitely seemed to pick back up, if it ever even stopped or slowed down. I find myself consumed by distractions of daily tasks and everything that is going on around me. As well as focusing on the past and what I would like to have gone differently or worrying about the future and trying to plan ahead. The one things God has called me to do it to take moments for Him. To just pause at different times throughout the day and focus on Him. To remember what He has done for me, to remember that He is with me now, to receive the Holy Spirit. Someone mentioned to me recently that they were having a rough day. Not really for any particular reason, just a mood really that had been hanging over them since they woke up. They felt negative, depressed, overwhelmed, and just alone. So they took a moment and stopped. They listened to worship music and really focused on it and worshiped God. The "gloomy cloud" hanging over them was gone and it didn't retur...
Matthew 14:28-33 “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said, “Come!” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he noticed how strong the wind was, he became afraid and started to sink. He shouted, “Lord, save me!” Immediately, Jesus reached out, caught hold of him, and said, “You have so little faith! Why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat the wind stopped blowing. The men in the boat bowed down in front of Jesus and said, “You are truly the Son of God.” When thinking about this past week, this verse came to mind. I would have moments where I would start to fear and stress about future events that I couldn’t control. Before I could get too sucked in I could feel God nudge me and I would focus on this phrase “Count it all as joy” ( James 1:2-4 ESV ). Then I was at peace. I was looking to God not my circumstances. I was allowing God and not my circumstances to dictate me. No matter the outcome I have God. I hav...
