Saul & Ananias

Have you ever been going full force with something, thinking it was God’s will and purpose for you? That you were doing something righteous for Him, in His honor.

Has God ever called you to do something and you were hesitant and didn’t want to? You questioned God on it.

In Acts 9:1-19 we find both scenarios and one main theme.

Saul was going FULL force for God, or so he thought. He was following all of the Jewish law and going above and beyond to defend God’s honor. Only to find out that he had been missing the mark, sinning, all along.

Ananias is found being called to share the gospel with someone. Someone he doesn’t want to share the gospel with. Many reasons could come into play, fear of being killed. Spite, “he doesn’t deserve to be saved”. Disbelief, “he’s not going to believe or change his ways. He’s a helpless cause.” He questions God. He tells/reminds God of who this man is that He’s asking him to go to.

Both men submit to God.

Saul repents and fasts not only from food but drink as well for 3 days. He prays seeking the truth and answers from God.

Ananias not only asked God, but listened for an answer. He then submits to God in faith doing as He has asked him to do.

Both men act according to God’s will.

Ananias not only went to Saul and healed him. He did it in faith believing what God had told him. He accepted Saul as a brother in Christ before healing him.

Saul obeyed what God had shown him while he was in prayer. He received the healing and was baptized and went on to proclaim God’s kingdom as God had called him.

I believe these are 2 themes to live by daily. Things that sum up our calling in our faith.

We are to constantly look to the cross. Look to Jesus and all that He has done for us. We are to remember the significance of what He has done for us. In awe and wonder of our Creator and Savior we are to submit to Him, submit our lives.

We are called to follow Him. To receive the Holy Spirit and allow Him to move in us, work through us, and change us to become more like Him with every passing day.

There is such beauty, peace, and joy when we live in this place with Jesus. When we are connected to and moving with our Creator and Savior.
